Microdermabrasion is a mechanical form of exfoliation of the outer dead layers of skin. Once the outermost layers of skin are removed, cell growth is encouraged in the underlying skin. My preference when performing an advanced exfoliation technique has always been to use the diamond tip microdermabrasion over the crystal microdermabrasion.
The diamond tip method results in the exfoliation of dead skin from using a wand that has a tip covered in tiny diamonds. The dead skin is then vacuumed off of the face. The added suction makes this method of microdermabrasion stronger and more thorough then other forms of microdermabrasion. I determine the appropriate level of suction for each client but it is the suction that increases blood flow to the skin which stimulates the production of collagen.
This treatment is good for fine lines, scarring, pigmentation, uneven skin tone and wrinkles. The skin looks healthier and signs of aging are reduced. The treatment takes about 30 minutes for the face, neck and chest. I recommend at least 6 treatments every two weeks for best results. I like adding a light peel occasionally to maximize the treatment and results. One of the benefits of diamond tip microdermabrasion is there is no downtime.
